Club Spotlight: West Coast MMA – Gort, Co. Galway! 🇮🇪🥊This week, IMMAA is thrilled to shine a light on West Coast MMA, a vibrant club bringing the spirit of Mixed Martial Arts to the heart of a rural community in Gort, Co. Galway. Under the dedicated leadership of Head Coach Cathal Manning, this club is a testament to grassroots development and community building.Founded by Coach Cathal after proudly representing Ireland at the IMMAF European Championships, West Coast MMA was built with a clear vision: to create something meaningful and to be an integral part of the IMMAA family from day one. As Coach Manning himself states, "It’s a great organisation for any coach or young up-and-coming fighters to be part of."Building Something Special:West Coast MMA holds the distinction of being the first MMA club in its area, providing an invaluable opportunity for young people—especially those who might not connect with traditional sports—to find their passion. Their diverse schedule includes:Monday:• Little Warriors (5-8 yrs): 5:45 PM - 6:30 PM• Kids (9-13 yrs): 6:45 PM - 7:45 PM• Adults (15+): 8:00 PM - 9:00 PMWednesday:• Adults MMA (15+): 7:00 PM - 8:00 PMThursday:• K-1/Kickboxing (15+): 8:00 PM - 9:00 PMFriday:• Little Warriors (5-8 yrs): 5:45 PM - 6:30 PM• Kids (9-13 yrs): 6:45 PM - 7:45 PM• Adults (15+): 8:00 PM - 9:00 PMAll of this is achieved within their space, proving that the strength of a community truly outweighs the size of a gym.West Coast MMA is driven by a powerful mission: to build confidence in young individuals who may not fit into other sports, and to cultivate a community where both kids and adults can grow together—not just as athletes, but as friends.With emerging talent, their focus is now shifting towards competition and future IMMAA All-Irelands, showcasing the incredible potentwithin their ranks.West Coast MMA is a fantastic example of how grassroots MMA is growing the right way—always putting community first, and people first.
