The Irish Mixed Martial Arts Association (IMMAA) is pleased to announce the selection pathway for athletes wishing to represent Team Ireland at the 2026 IMMAF World Championships, taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia from 1stโ€“7th November 2026.

The IMMAF World Championships is one of the premier international amateur MMA events, bringing together elite athletes from more than 60 countries worldwide to compete across both Junior and Senior divisions.

As international places remain limited and competition standards continue to rise, IMMAA is committed to maintaining a clear, fair and performance-based selection process.

Team Ireland Selection Process

๐Ÿฅ‡ National Champion (1st Place)

The Winner of the IMMAA National Championships in each eligible division will receive the No.1 Team Ireland selection position.

๐Ÿฅˆ National Runner-Up (2nd Place)

The Runner-Up of the IMMAA National Championships in each eligible division will receive the No.2 Team Ireland selection position.

๐Ÿฅ‰ Third Place Athlete

Athletes finishing in third place will be placed on standby and may be offered selection should an athlete in a selected position decline or become unavailable.

Allocation of Vacant Places

Any vacant or unfilled positions may be allocated at the discretion of Team Ireland Coaches based on:

โœ” Attendance and commitment to Team Ireland Squad sessions

โœ” Athlete readiness and suitability for IMMAF Championship level competition

โœ” Technical standard and ability to compete internationally

โœ” Overall preparation and contribution to squad development

The purpose of coach allocation is to ensure Team Ireland sends athletes capable of competing successfully at IMMAF Championship standard.

Squad Attendance (Required for Consideration)

Athletes seeking Team Ireland selection are expected to attend squad sessions and demonstrate ongoing commitment to preparation.
